The Alvantor Bubble Tent is an igloo shaped dome made mostly of clear PVC. It is aimed at garden parties and cold weather gatherings, but its size makes it an option for anyone who wants to enclose a hot tub and still see the sky and the garden. Nothing else in our gazebo guide is as large or as see-through, which is its whole appeal.

Our take
Space and view
Alvantor gives the dome as 4.6 by 4.6 m and 2.6 m tall, and rates it for 12 to 15 people. Even with a 206 cm tub in the middle there is room for chairs, a towel rail and space to dry off. The 360 degree clear walls let in daylight and keep the view open, which a fabric gazebo cannot do.
Two large entrance doors roll up. Double sided silicone zips open from inside and outside, and there are hooks for coats and bags.
Frame and anchoring
The structure pops up without tools on fibreglass poles, with detachable support poles on top meant to stop the roof sagging in rain or wind. The pack includes 10 sandbags, 20 guylines and 20 stakes, which suggests the maker expects it to need serious anchoring. Weight is listed as 20.3 kg in the specs and 21.7 kg in the bullets.
It folds into a round carry bag about a metre across. That is bulky, so think about where it will live in summer.
The weather warning
Despite the waterproof label in the specs, Alvantor says it does not recommend putting the tent up before a rainstorm, snowstorm or other adverse weather. For a hot tub shelter in the UK, that is a real limit: you would need to watch the forecast and take it down before a storm.
Clear PVC can also trap heat and condensation on sunny days. The listing does not mention vents, so plan to leave a door open.
Against the Lay-Z-Spa dome and the Gecheer
The Lay-Z-Spa Gazebo Dome is smaller but made for hot tubs, with mesh and fabric doors that handle summer and winter. The Gecheer 4 x 3 m is a heavy fixed gazebo for a permanent spot. The Alvantor is the most open and sociable of the three, and the least suited to rough weather.
Verdict
The Alvantor Bubble Tent suits owners who want a large, clear room around the tub for calm evenings and winter gatherings, and who will take it down before storms. If you need a shelter that stays up through changeable weather, choose the Lay-Z-Spa Gazebo Dome or a steel pop-up such as the PORTAL 3 x 3 m instead.
