The Milan AirJet Plus is the six seat Lay-Z-Spa that most families will look at first. It is round, 196 cm across and 71 cm tall, holds 916 litres and lists 140 jets on the AirJet Plus system. The Tritech liner is the detail that lifts it above the plainer Honolulu at the same size, and Bestway's spares network in the UK means filters and replacement parts are rarely hard to source.

In its favour

  • The listing gives 916 litres and six seats, enough room for a family without the bulk of the biggest tubs.
  • Comes with a heater, filter, ChemConnect dispenser and inflatable cover, so the basics are in the box.
  • Tritech liner material is named in the listing, Bestway's tougher layered wall rather than plain PVC.

Good to know

  • The listing does not mention app or WiFi control, so heating has to be set at the tub.
  • Air bubble jets only; there are no water jets for a firmer massage feel.

Our take

The box contents

The listing names one Tritech liner, one heater for 220 to 240 V, one filter, the ChemConnect dispenser, one inflatable cover and the AirJet Plus system. Nothing essential is missing for a first season apart from water treatment chemicals and a ground mat. The weight is 38 kg.

Tritech and the AirJet Plus system

Tritech is the name Bestway gives to the liner material on its better Lay-Z-Spas, and the Milan listing names it where the Honolulu listing names no wall material at all. The listing does not describe the layers or give a thickness, so the Bestway product page is the place to check how it is built.

AirJet Plus pushes air through 140 outlets around the floor, producing a bubble massage. It does not use water jets, so the feel is softer than the HydroJet systems on the Hawaii or Santorini. Amazon lists the material as plastic and the shape as round.

Running a 916 litre tub

A 916 litre fill is middling for six seats: more than the 795 litres of the square Hawaii, less than the 1,190 litres of the Santorini. Heating time scales with volume, so the Milan will be ready sooner than the Santorini on a cold fill. Neither app control nor freeze protection is mentioned, so in winter the tub will need draining or close attention.

Milan against its siblings

The Lay-Z-Spa Honolulu AirJet is the same size and capacity but its listing gives no liner type and far fewer details. The Lay-Z-Spa Hawaii HydroJet Pro adds water jets and a square shape that fits against a fence. The Lay-Z-Spa 60001 is the smaller four seat entry point.

Verdict

Buy the Lay-Z-Spa Milan AirJet Plus if you want a well documented six seat tub from a mainstream brand with a tougher Tritech wall and everything needed in the box. If you want water jets as well as bubbles, the Lay-Z-Spa Hawaii HydroJet Pro is the step up, and for frost protection and app control, consider the Bestway Santorini HydroJet Pro.
